A Legacy of Community & Culture
After a prolonged discussions and deliberations by a group of Nair enthusiasts residing in around Dombivli emphasized the need for the formation of a Nair Organisation mainly for building a platform for all Nairs settled in and around Dombivi to come together with a responsibility to safeguard the right heritage of Nair Community.
Headed by Shri K. Balakrishnan and Late Shri V.V. Sreedharan Nair, along with their committed colleagues Nair Welfare Association was registered under the societies act in the year 1987.
The vision of our founding members was to bring all the Nairs residing in and around Dombivi under one roof in order to enable them to interact and communicate with each other on every auspicious occasion. NWA has its own office premises and has over 2,500 life members.
"Nair Welfare Association" (NWA) Dombivli – "Nair Welfare Association" (NWA) Dombivli established in the year 1988 and registered with the proper authorities. Activities of NWA cover the socio economic, cultural and educational field aimed at the welfare of all people irrespective of cast and creed. Around 2000 members are already on its roll, sincere efforts are on to enroll more members to its fold.
Over the years, ardent Nair spirit coupled with dedicated hard work of all of us, NWA became a landmark in Nair unity and also set a benchmark in serving the members of our community. To the benefit of our members, years back we set up a fully organized and functional marriage bureau to help the parents get suitable alliance for their children.
A free homeopathic clinic is also operational at our office premise where the medical assistance is provided to one and all.
In line with objectives of the Association, educational assistance to economically weaker and needy students and merit awards to meritorious students are provided every year.
NWA is already have a ladies and youth wing. The founders set up our Association with lofty goals for ourselves and we have lot of dreams. Our wish list is very long. Establishing an Old Age Home & Community Centre tops the priority list.
Governing council of NWA fervently appeal to its members to come forward to act and achieve for our community and the society in general. It would be worth remembering on this association one Great Words of a Great Leader, Abraham Lincoln (1865–1885), 16th President of the United States:
